Chapter Philanthropy and Service

Tri Delta is devoted to raising money and awareness for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and since 1999, has raised over $30 million. In addition to a series of smaller events, Alpha Chapter puts on two large-scale fundraisers per school year, with all money going to the hospital:

Kids' Night at Warren Towers Dining Hall

Every year during our fall semester, our chapter works with the amazing staff of Warren Towers Dining Hall to put on Kids' Night! The dining hall serves kids themed food like smiley fries, pizza bagels, chicken nuggets, cosmic brownies and more! Our members deck out the entire dining hall with balloons, streamers, etc. Setting up a table near the front, our members get to help the BU community see how they can get involved and support St. Jude Children's Hospital as well.

Delta House of Pancakes (DHOP)

During the spring semester, the sisters of Alpha Chapter offer an all-you-can-eat pancake bar, complete with a pancake eating contest and an ambience of fun. Every DHOP has a theme; last time around it was Diners, Drive-Ins, and DHOP, based on the hit Guy Fieri show (and meme).

A message from our Director of Philanthropy, Katie Banish, about what our philanthropy means to her:

I grew up in the American south where high quality healthcare can be hard to come by. Situated in Memphis Tennessee, St. Jude is a harbor for those seeking world class care. They ensure every child, no matter their background, receives the upmost standard of care. St. Jude is a world leader in oncogenic research and what happens in their labs is brought to their treatment rooms, which are a mere 30 yards away. Tri Delta has partnered with St. Jude for the last 25 years. We have helped raise nearly 100 Million dollars. Every cent of these donations go to furthering the standard of care as well as ensuring no patients family ever worries about receiving a bill.

I am so incredibly proud to support this organization. Especially since I am studying Biomedical Engineering with the hopes of one day entering St. Jude's doors as a physician. Seeing St. Jude's campus in person only cemented this dream and working as Directory of Philanthropy brings me one step closer to my personal dream of caring for the children of St. Jude.
